Lib Dems secure landslide victory in latest council by-elections
Liberal Democrats scored a landslide victory against Tories in the latest council by-elections.
Candidate Frances Amrani triumphed at Teversham, South Cambridgeshire District.
Labour easily defended a marginal seat at Mile End East in London's East End Tower Hamlets Borough where a Lib Dem collapse boosted both the two major parties.
The Respect coalition of Bethnal Green and Bow MP George Galloway, which had won one of the ward's three seats in the main 2006 contests, trailed third behind Tories.
