More than sixty councils are counting the cost of the Icelandic economic crash. Hundreds of millions of pounds are caught up in banks which have now gone into administration.

Town Halls are waiting to see if the Chancellor will save them. Local authorities insist the Treasury advised them to invest their cash abroad.

Kent County Council had fifty-million pounds in three Icelandic accounts. Their leader Paul Carter says they didn't see the collapse coming...
