Aspire Housing has donated over £800 to a local charity from the proceeds of interest gained from its employee’s Christmas savings club.

The interest collected from 10 months of savings has been matched by Aspire Housing and the total donated to local charity – The Elizabeth Trust.

John Lindsay, Director of Resources and Deputy Chief Executive at Aspire Housing, said: “We are absolutely delighted to donate the money to such a worthy local cause.

He added: “Our staff wanted to set up their own Christmas savings scheme to prepare for the Christmas season and were cautious of using other well known national schemes.”

The Elizabeth Trust was founded in 1975 and was one of only two services of its kind operating in North Staffordshire. The Trust is well established in the Newcastle area and provides accommodation and support to women and their children escaping domestic violence.
