Sanctuary residents from Warmstry Court, a sheltered scheme in Worcester, helped BBC Hereford and Worcester break The Guinness World Record for the most people belly dancing simultaneously in November – and raised almost £100 for charity.

Residents, and scheme manager, Sandra Horton, joined 535 people at the Malvern Theatre in Worcester, dancing together to smash the world belly dancing record as part of BBC Hereford and Worcester’s Children In Need charity drive.

Sandra said: “Seven residents took part and we all thoroughly enjoyed the day. We had been practising the routine and it was quite a work out. On the day, we arrived early and ran through the routine every fifteen minutes until the actual record-breaking attempt. We had a lovely day and the residents raised around £100 for children in need – which was a great achievement.”
