Beth Johnson Housing Association is continuing its work to help local schools stamp out bullying - by supporting Etruscan Primary in putting on a play to tackle such behaviour during anti-bullying week.

In June, Beth Johnson, a subsidiary of Sanctuary Group, purchased some Barney and Echo books produced by the Police Community Clubs of Great Britain. The books teach children about the damaging effects of bullying behaviour and support teachers and parents in addressing bullying and vandalism issues.

After purchasing the books for class five at Etruscan Primary School in Etruria, Beth Johnson presented the children with anti-bullying wristbands and now the whole school is taking part in this year’s anti-bullying week. Children from class five are working on a play to perform in front of pupils and parents and Beth Johnson staff have been working with the children in rehearsals.

Zenab Hussain, Beth Johnson tenancy services officer, said: “We supported the anti-bullying campaign to send out a message to the children in our local community about the dangers and consequences of bullying and vandalism. The books provided the children with a script which they have adapted into their own play. We are pleased to be involved in this campaign and to continue working with the school. “
