Just one of the questions being asked of Friendship Care and Housing (Friendship) at the ‘Jobs and Careers Live’ event on Friday and Saturday (14/15th) at New Bingley Hall in Birmingham.
This event was very well attended and represented by organisations such as the Royal Navy, the Army, the Police, Birmingham City Council as well as several universities and organisations assisting people back into work.
Friendship’s HR Team and staff from care and support services were kept extremely busy over the two days with more than 250 people visiting their stand. The event started at 10.30 am but their first keen visitor arrived at 9.45 am!
Dawn Ware, HR Advisor at Friendship said “Attendance was diverse - there were people wanting to change career, mothers returning to work, people wanting to return to work following a period of caring for a relative, people affected by redundancy or people who work within the housing and care sector but looking for a new employer.”
Many of the people who attended wanted to work in housing or care and support but were unaware of how to start or who to approach. The main questions being “what qualifications and experience do you need?” Being at the event to answer questions face to face, gave people more confidence to ask more questions and prompted additional interest in other vacancies within Friendship.
Dawn went onto say “Feedback has been really encouraging and we are hopeful of filling all our live vacancies. Application packs for a job that had been advertised more than once unsuccessfully for a Neighbourhood Support Worker within the Housing Management Department, went within an hour of us being there, which again, is a real positive.”
