Eleanor Day was delighted that her purchase of a new home, from Aster Group though the HomeBuy shared ownership scheme, completed last Friday, 14th November. However, she was surprised to find her new home in Pewsey was being ‘handed over’ by a Smurf.

Aster Group’s Angela Napier, who works in the Home Ownership Team, fully entered into the spirit of the fund raising efforts of the Devizes-based staff by dressing as a Smurf.

Unfortunately, in her enthusiasm, Angela forgot that there was a sales completion scheduled for Friday morning and she would need to drive to nearby Pewsey. This caused much amusement for colleagues and the men surfacing the roads on the new estate where Eleanor has bought her home.

Alongside the fancy dress competition, highlights of the day included, a sponsored ‘treadmill challenge’ which saw the fitter members of staff take turns to see how far they could run in the day. In fact, they managed to complete a marathon!

Sarsen Housing Director Jonathan Smith volunteered for a 'number 2' haircut in aid of charity. His colleagues all think he looks much better for it!

Cakes were baked and sold – including the auction of a hand made Pudsey bear cake - a general knowledge quiz, competitions including guess the name of the teddy bear, guess how many sweets in the jar and a pirate treasure map.

Over £400 was raised on the day and donations are still coming in.
