BCHG appoints new Head of Care and RepairBCHG appoints new Head of Care and Repair

Black Country Housing Group (BCHG) has appointed Lesa Kingham as its new Head of Care and Repair.

In her new role Lesa will take charge of the one of the biggest Home Improvement Agencies in the country.

Based at The Causeway, in Blackheath town centre, BCHG works for the councils of Sandwell, Dudley, Birmingham, Walsall and Wolverhampton, helping vulnerable people access funding and contractors to make improvements to their home.

Examples of work could include having a new kitchen or double glazed windows fitted, or having central heating installed.

Speaking about her appointment, Lesa said: The quality of someones home can have a huge impact on their health, self-esteem and ability to work.

It is a privilege to be given the opportunity to help some of the most vulnerable people in the Black Country and beyond to improve their homes and, in turn, improve their quality of life.

It is a big challenge but there is already an excellent team in place here and we will be striving to maintain the first-class service BCHG already provides as well as improving things where we can.

Before joining BCHG, Lesa worked as a Programme Manager for West Midlands Kick Start Partnership.

She has also held positions with Heart of Birmingham Teaching PCT, Birmingham Drug Action Team, Ministry of Defence, British Red Cross, The Stroke Association and The Foyer Federation.

Sandra Spence, Black Country Housing Group Chief Executive, said: Our Care and Repair service is a lifeline for thousands of vulnerable people, and we are delighted to have secured a person of Lesas calibre and experience to lead it.

I am sure she will build on and improve the good work that has already been done for so many people in the Black Country.

Earlier this year BCHG won a three-year £4.5 million contract from Wolverhampton City Council to provide its residents with home improvement services.
