24dash and 24housing magazine have been out and about this week at the NHF annual conference and exhibition in Birmingham.

24housing editor Jane Gething-Lewis spoke to designer Wayne Hemingway straight after the Housing Corporation’s official launch of the new Building for Life guidance - a practical guide endorsed by the Corporation and CABE for developers outlining the design standards that need to followed when building affordable homes.

The outspoken designer, who is current chair of Building for Life, told delegates how he received a frosty reception from one social landlord recently when he told them his views on their No Ball Games policy for green spaces. He suggested they re-house the elderly resident who was the sole complainant, and actively encourage children to make use of the park….

...

Jane also caught up with a very busy David Orr, Chief Executive of the NHF….
