Star Award
The Community Gateway Association are celebrating the achievements of local people who make a difference to their communities.
Colleagues and members will be gathering at 53 Degrees in Preston on the 11th September, to congratulate the nominees and winners of the Gateway Community "Star" Awards.
The awards, part of the Association's Annual General Meeting, are being given to people in Gateway communities who have made things better for their neighbours or the
area.
Everyone put forward for an award was nominated by other local people and winners were decided by a judging panel made up of the Gateway Tenants' Committee. They were touched by the
stories they have read about.
The Categories for these awards are:
- Young Person Award
- Community Cohesion Award ( Group and Individual)
- Good Neighbour Award
- The Green Award (Environmental award)
- Fundraiser Award
Rose Kinsella, Chair of the Gateway Board commenting on the awards said: "In times where we see and hear so much bad press about problems within our communities, everyone nominated for these awards
are fantastic examples of people who care about where they live and how their communities feel.
"It's important that we recognise them for the great work they do and for the time they give for others”
Chief Executive Diane Bellinger added:" Empowerment is at the heart of everything we do at Gateway, it’s our golden thread. These awards are the centre piece of our Annual General Meeting; we
want to recognise those people who are making a difference in the communities they live
