South Staffordshire PCT Re-appoints Non Executive DirectorsSouth Staffordshire PCT Re-appoints Non Executive Directors

South Staffordshire Primary Care Trust (PCT) has recently confirmed the re-appointments of three of its Non Executive Directors to the Trust Board.

Jennifer Jobson, Philip Aldred and David Ibbs (pictured) will each serve a further 4-year appointment from the 1st January 2009 to 31st December 2013.

With more than 30 years in the aerospace industry, both in the UK and USA, Philip Aldred was previously a Director of Rolls Royce PLC, the UK jet engine maker.

Jennifer Jobson is a Fellow of Chartered Accountants with a 20 year career history in accountancy. She worked for several blue chip companies in the retail, leisure and distribution sectors, most recently Finance Director of the distribution company Tradeteam.

With a career as a Police Officer spanning over 40 years, David Ibbs rose through the ranks to Assistant Chief Constable, a post which he held until his retirement in 1996.

The re-appointments, which have been made in accordance with the Commissioner for Public Appointments’ (OCPA) Code of Practice, have a paid remuneration of £7,765 per annum for each Non-executive director.

All Non-executive appointments are made on merit and political activity plays no part in the selection process. However, in accordance with the original Nolan recommendations, there is a requirement for appointees political activity (if any declared) to be made public.

Jennifer, Philip and David have no declared political activity and do not hold any other Ministerial appointments.

They will continue to work with other members of the Trust Board for South Staffordshire PCT, which is one of the largest PCTs in the country. It serves a population of approximately 604,000 and is located within the geographical boundaries of Staffordshire County Council. The PCT employs just over 2,000 staff and its turnover for 2008/09 is £790 million.

The PCT contains a number of urban centres including Burton upon Trent, Cannock, Lichfield, Stafford, Tamworth, Rugeley, Uttoxeter and Wombourne, although the geographic area is largely rural.

The PCT is committed to the continuous improvement of the health and well-being of the community we serve. The PCT approach to providing healthcare is based on focusing on prevention; targeting resources where need is greatest; working with partners on other factors which impact on ill-health and where treatment is needed, offering choice and commissioning high-quality services with no delays.
